As fit as tennis players always are, they cannot escape from the grip of chronic illnesses. The level of workouts they do and the mental pressure they experience may leave long-lasting and irreversible impacts on their health. Age and gender don’t matter. From Nick Kyrgios and Emma Raducanu to Rafael Nadal and Venus Williams, injuries took away so much from them. Legends like Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert even survived cancer. They continue to inspire and be vocal about the issues for the world’s greater good. The ‘Ice Maiden’ recently showed her support for someone who went through the same deadly disease that affected her.

Jennifer Anne, a female rights activist, shared her cancer story on Twitter, and Chris Evert posted an appreciative comment on the tweet, thanking her for her story.

Jennifer Anne shared her ovarian cancer survival story and the probable symptoms of it. Being an active advocate for female rights, she wanted to create an awareness of ovarian cancer and how lethal it could be if left unrecognized or untreated. She wrote, “The point of this very raw and personal tweet is to raise awareness to one of the silent killers of women. Ovarian cancer.”

Anne shared about her surgeries and how she feared that she wouldn’t be around to see their kids turn into adults. She shared, “I have been “lucky” in that I have had gynecologists taking care of me for years, but many other women don’t. And often by the time women have symptoms, the cancer has progressed that their life expectancy is cut short. Very short.”

Evert shared that she had Ovarian Cancer in 2020 in an ESPN article that she co-wrote with her friend, Chris McKendry.

The eighteen-time Grand Slam winner took her time and privacy to process the reality. She always had control over her life, and this news devastated her, but she did not give in.
