In the last week of February 2023, Angelique Kerber gave birth to her first child, Liana. She announced the event in an Instagram post containing her partner’s, her child’s, and her hands interlocked.
Several tennis personalities came forward with their best wishes.

There was an outpouring of congratulations and love from the tennis world to the post which was captioned “Welcome to our family, Liana *25.02.2023 Having you with us is the most beautiful & overwhelming feeling we could have ever imagined.”
Leading players of the past and present including major winners Ana Ivanovic, Caroline Wozniacki, Marin Cilic, and former world No. 2 Agnieszka Radwanska and her sister Ula Radwanska and former world No. 12 Sabine Lisicki gave their congratulations.

Ivanovic commented on Kerber’s post announcing her childbirth “Congratulations! So happy for you”. Wozniacki, meanwhile, sent three heart emojis as a reaction.
The Radwanska siblings, too, individually, conveyed their hearty congrats for the new mother. The younger Radwanska sent her congratulations in Polish, a nice personal touch considering that Kerber’s mother tongue is Polish. Sabine Lisicki, being a fellow German, sent her congratulations in that language.
Overall, the tennis world was very accepting and showed its heart-warming side when it came to Liana’s birth. The tennis world was delighted to notice another step in Angelique Kerber’s life taking fruition.

The new mother has already given a timeline for her possible comeback and tried to keep as fit as possible during her pregnancy as well. During a press conference at a WTA Press Tour, Kerber said that “I don’t know what time or which tournament because I really want to take the time. And when I come back, I want to come back 100 percent, fit again and feel good. This is the plan.”

Thus, it would be interesting to watch her play once she returns. But as of now, she is enjoying her motherhood and the tennis world showed its heart-warming side when it came to Liana’s birth.
