And while the Stamford-based promotion can boast of a massive fanfare, the rival AEW has made a substantial base since its inception in 2019. Recently, the AEW faithful also came down heavy on WWE legend Triple H for his comments.

The WWE head of creative took a shot at Tony Khan’s promotion. This was deemed out of bounds by AEW fans. Incensed by The Game’s take, they launched a counter-tirade on him and the WWE. But what did Triple H say?

Since his time as a wrestler, the 14-time world champion has been a hard man to please. A former WWE employee once revealed how Triple H was unimpressed with the wrestler for failing to reach his desired level. Not surprisingly, AEW’s performance over the last four years has left the 54-year-old underwhelmed.

He chose to address the issue on ‘American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes’. The documentary streamed on Peacock on July 31. Cody Rhodes revealed the reason behind his departure from the promotion in 2022. He also added, “But the byproduct of leaving AEW is the opportunity to go for the biggest dream I had in the first dream that I had in my life.”

It followed Triple H’s reaction to Cody Rhodes re-signing with the WWE. HHH said, “To then take that gamble again and say, ‘this is not what I wanted to be. I didn’t grow up dreaming of being the champion or the face of a secondary promotion. I wanted to be the WWE champion.'”

Calling AEW secondary was deemed an odious comment by Triple H by the AEW faithful. They immediately fired back with their insults.

AEW fans list achievements, remind WWE of job cuts

X, the erstwhile Twitter, turned ugly as Triple H’s comment blared. His not of subtle comment attracted negativity toward WWE.

This AEW fan seemingly exposed Triple H’s double standards and called the legend a ‘salty b**tch’.

Another reminded them of the job cuts that WWE have had, while they praised Tony Khan for keeping his roster away from that plight.

A third fan predicted AEW All In’s massive success in August at the iconic Wembley Stadium in the UK. They also compared the ticket sales with WWE PLEs.

WWE’s NXT was also dragged into the debate as a user said Triple H was angry with NXT losing to AEW’s counterpart program.

But it wasn’t all against Triple H. The Game also found support from a few fans.
