White and MJF had been feuding for a while. It was pretty evident that White wanted to win the AEW World Championship from his opponent so he could proudly wear the gold around his waist. But clearly, AEW and Tony Khan are not yet ready to dethrone MJF, which has irked White to a great extent.

When Saturday’s event unfolded, it seemed as if White would bag the gold by the end of the night. But the show ended with a complete twist, rendering the AEW Universe surprised.
White almost became the AEW World Champion at Full Gear

After the attack, the backstage crew rushed to the hospital. Following the incident, Tony Schiavone came out and told the live crowd that the match between MJF and White was canceled because the champ could not wrestle due to his injury. He was about to announce White as the new AEW World Champion. But Adam Cole interrupted.
He said he wasn’t going to let White win the belt. He then revealed that he took Khan’s permission to defend the title for his friend. AEW then changed the main event match card to Cole vs. White. But as the match was about to start, fans saw an injured MJF return in an ambulance.
