In the current scenario, there are several options for wrestlers to go out and wrestle for a different promotion. But WWE is majorly an end goal for many wrestlers out there. Similarly, an AEW wrestler may make his WWE debut or go to other promotions due to a major loophole. This is similar to how Cody Rhodes returned to WWE last year.

There are rumors that Kenny Omega may leave AEW after a five-year journey and right now it’s just speculation about where he will end up. But surprisingly he can appear in AEW and WWE in the same week because of his current contract with Tony Khan.

A few days ago, Fightful Select shared how AEW structure its contracts. Unlike WWE, AEW doesn’t have any non-compete clauses for its wrestlers. This is a loophole that can make Omega make history by appearing for both the top companies in one week.

The report said, “Based on the contracts that Fightful has seen within AEW, and numerous talent we’ve spoken to, there aren’t any non-compete clauses attached to many of them.”

It added, “When asking AEW sources about the nature of this, we were told a few things. For one, All Elite Wrestling doesn’t generally release talent anyway unless there’s a special request or a disciplinary action, so they haven’t necessarily had to implement those. A non-compete would generally just extend the life of a deal ending.

AEW applies non-compete in case the management and the talent agree upon it. Moreover, if an early departure, this clause is on a “case-by-case basis”. For example, there may be an agreement on CM Punk’s AEW exit for not going to WWE for some time as per Fightful Select.

Last year Cody Rhodes too returned to WWE quickly after leaving AEW. However, in Omega’s case, he too can appear on both shows within a week or after some time.

Omega’s AEW contract expired by the end of January 2023. As reported by The Wrestler Observer covered by PWTorch, Omega’s deal allows AEW to extend his contract if he is sidelined with injury. Therefore, he currently is wrestling in AEW as Tony Khan has activated the clause.

However, after his contract expires, he could probably appear in WWE. Also, as PWTorch reported, WWE has already shown an interest in signing Omega for the foreseeable future.
