The current hot topic of the pro wrestling world is ‘CONFIDENTIALITY.’ The word popped up all of a sudden when the topic of the AEW All Out backstage brawl back in 2022 entered the limelight as a topic of discussion. It was revealed by Stephen P New, the lawyer who represented CM Punk and Ace Steel brought up the confidentiality clauses of the company. With it still being a hot topic, the AEW’s player handbook has now gone public.

AEW Handbook goes public

When the questions about the existence of a player’s handbook at AEW started circulating on the internet, Brian Last, who is a co-host on Jim Cornette’s podcast, dropped the picture on the first page of the handbook. The first page of the handbook consists of the AEW logo. This is followed by Talent Playbook: Policies and Procedures. The date on which the playbook was revised was hidden by the podcast Arcadian Vanguard‘s logo. Last is a co-host on this podcast along with Cornette.

Along with this, Last dropped screenshots of the Interviews and Public Comments section. This section included policies ranging from criticizing AEW to unauthorized media engagement. According to the first policy, AEW strictly condemns stars criticizing the company’s management. Apart from that, comments made on the ownership, members of the fellow roster, and the decisions made by the promotion will not be tolerated.

Apart from that, it is also mentioned that if there are any grievances, they should resolve the matter in a private, in-house environment. According to the statements in the handbook, making the matter public on social media and other platforms hampers the chances of having a meaningful conversation.

Where did it all begin?

The things started coming to light after Punk and Steel’s lawyer made comments on the confidentiality clause. He stated that all the alleged people present on the day of incidence are bound by this clause. Thus, they cannot reveal any information about the backstage events of that night.

Following this claim by New, Chris Jericho entered the scene. He stated that there is no such NDA and handbook that New talks about. Jericho also talked about how he has never adhered to the said clauses or handbook since none of it exists. This allegation by Jericho paved the way for fans to ask about the very nature of the playbook. As for now, there are no comments by the President of AEW, Tony Khan. There have been no comments by any of the spokespersons of the promotion on this situation.

One take at a time

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let?s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
