WWE started this new year with an unexpected round of firings. Not even a week has passed by since the year changed, and WWE is at it again. This time they released WWE Hall of Famer Road Dogg.

The former tag team champion recently resigned from a producer role of SmackDown Live, citing creative differences between him and WWE chairman Vince McMahon.

It came as a shock when this happened because Road Dogg has been with WWE for ages. From being a sidekick to Jeff Jarrett to invading WCW, Dogg has done it all in the WWE ring.

Road Dogg shares a close relationship with Triple H and Shawn Michaels, as he was part of the iconic faction ‘Degeneration X’. However, none of it mattered as Vince fired the Hall of Famer.

Road Dogg then took to his Facebook profile and updated his latest feelings about the recent turn of events.

“Guys, I’m doing well and I thank you for all the love. I’m gonna take a few days for my self and process this. God is still on the throne and will provide. It’s just business!” he wrote.

What is next for Road Dogg?

Road Dogg was an integral part of WWE during the Attitude Era as a wrestler. However, when the WWE Hall of Famer eased himself into more of a backstage role, he proved to be an integral part of a backstage authority.

Now, it’s a no-brainer that Road Dogg and Billy Gunn are best friends and are still connected to each other. Billy Gunn has been with AEW since its inception and sometimes has laced up his boots for exhibition matches.

So if the former WWE producer shows up in AEW, it would be a natural decision for the former tag team champions to unite. The wrestling fans might see the reunion of the ‘New Age Outlaws’, a tag team that wreaked havoc in WWE.

Nevertheless, if Dogg is currently not able to compete in a ring health-wise, he can always take the mantle of a producer or a writer in Tony Khan’s company.
