Edge, aka Adam Copeland, recently witnessed his first defeat in the AEW. The fans were expecting a new TNT champion after this week’s Dynamite, but because of interference from Nick Wayne’s mother, Edge couldn’t capitalize on that shot and fell prey to his former best friend Christian. Indeed, no one saw it coming.

Now the next step of the Rated R superstar in AEW will be highly anticipated. But despite his first loss, the 50-year-old has still made the wise call by choosing Tony Khan’s promotion. But is it so? Let’s explore.

An advantage that Edge could get from AEW is more TV time. Well, it won’t be fair to say that Edge is in the limbo of his career; he still has a lot of fuel left in his tank and could even witness a championship reign in AEW. A certain proof of this could be the intensity he brings to the ring even when he has reached his fifties. However, he didn’t frequently appear on WWE shows, even when he wanted to.

Well, the reports have suggested that Edge wanted more of an active role in WWE, but his contract was limited to 10 matches per year. Maybe it was the reason why he moved to another company since he thought he could get frequent chances of in-ring battles. And so far, we have seen how often Edge appears in the AEW shows.

A dream rivalry with Christian

A contest between Edge and Christian was surely not less than a dream set up for most of the fans. However, this was not the first time that the decorated tag team stars stood toe-to-toe against each other. Remember 2001, No Mercy? Fittingly, the two met in a ladder match because, at that time as well, Christian was the one to turn his back on Edge.

Moreover, it was one of the rare occasions when the fans saw them battling it out. Interestingly, in AEW, Edge got his first storyline with an evil Christian Cage, who has the backing of Luchasaurus, and, of course, being Edge’s best friend, his involvement as a heel would play a crucial role in the story. It is indeed a unique story from the perspective of fans, and they explore their rivalry angle even more.

Why? Well, certainly, the dispute is not settled, as Edge will return to take revenge and extend the story. Thus, this could be one of the crucial reasons why Edge chose AEW over WWE.

Edge could get over his ‘legend’ status in AEW

It is not a hidden fact that legends often get the upper hand in the world of pro wrestling. A legendary status often brings a prestigious reputation with it. Maybe that is why the WWE protected Edge’s status. While at the Stamford-based company, he was projected as a formable legend who went to the lengths of having him defeat The Demon Finn Balor at WrestleMania; at AEW, he shockingly lost his first title shot against Christian.

This might add more intrigue to the storyline, and the anticipation for the prospects of Edge in AEW could increase. This means he could appear as a regular wrestler instead of a legend who gets protected and appears less in the weekly shows.
