Kenny Omega is perhaps one of the most popular pro wrestlers signed to the AEW at the moment. But, a recent medical emergency is preventing Omega from returning to the ring and wrestling for his fans. Now, a new update has brought even more bad news for Tony Khan, as no clear date of recovery can be established in Omega’s case.

What happened to Kenny Omega?

Kenny Omega had to withdraw from the AEW arena after several health complications. After the medical specialists ran clinical tests on him, it was revealed that Omega was down with diverticulitis. This disease affects a person’s colon and leads to severe inflammation as well. Doctors were about to operate on Omega but had to stop.

The tests revealed that Omega already had a bad case of inflammation. Thus, surgery would run a 50 percent risk of him losing his life. This is a big reason for worry for Tony Khan as well as AEW fans. This news was first broken by WON’s Dave Meltzer.

According to Meltzer, “Due to the inflammation being so bad, he couldn’t have surgery at the time and as of last week still hadn’t had it. The decision will be made in about 7 weeks, based on his healing, on whether he’ll need surgery or not.” Meltzer also mentioned what it would mean if surgery did take place.

He said, “But if he does, that would put him out of action significantly longer. There is no time frame on when he will return at this point.” While the first concern for Tony Khan would definitely be Omega’s health, he also has to worry about his company.

What will Tony Khan do with a lone Chris Jericho now?

Chris Jericho was recently caught in a scandal where severe allegations were leveled against him. A social media trial badly tarnished his reputation and didn’t allow him to save face. Although attention to the matter has calmed down a bit, Jericho still has a hot trail of angry fans behind him.

Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega were tag team partners who would have soon won the AEW Tag Team Championship. But now, Jericho will be forced to appear as a singles competitor once again.
