“Vince Got Mad at Cody”: WWE Legend Recalls Vince McMahon Losing His Cool on Cody Rhodes Before He Left For AEW

Cody Rhodes has turned the tables on his career after he took a bet on himself in 2016. He left WWE and wrestled on the indie circuit with some memorable times in Impact Wrestling and NJPW. He is one of the AEW originals, but after spending four years there, he returned to WWE coming on good terms with Vince McMahon. However, a WWE Hall of Famer recently shared that Mr. McMahon once got furious with Rhodes before he left WWE for AEW.

The way Cody Rhodes left WWE back in 2016 shocked the wrestling world. He was having a good run as the Intercontinental Champion, but a downfall made him angry with the creatives. The relationship between Vince McMahon and The American Nightmare got strained at the time.

WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase recently shared an incident his son told him. In the recent episode of Everybody’s Got a Pod, ‘The Million Dollar Man’ shared Ted DiBiase Jr. telling him ‘Vinnie-Mac’ getting angry at the former six-time tag team champion in WWE.

DiBiase said, “Let’s go back to when Cody and my son Ted Junior were basically together and their camera point. Where you know and my son shared this with me. He said daddy said there came a point where you know like Vince got mad at Cody about something, and they’re standing there together, the two of them.”

The Million Dollar Man added, “And he says, he says, and this is back when they’re an A-Team, he says, ‘I’m not going to let you screw up and destroy his future’ and point out that my son Ted Jr. I said, ‘Man, I think bi*ches probably had to eat those words.’ Now, you know, there’s goodies. You want to stay.”

For several months around 2008 to 2010, Rhodes was in a tag team with DiBiase Jr. They won the World Tag Team Titles on two occasions. Moreover, they were in Legacy, which was led by Randy Orton.

The former three-time TNT Champion is currently in a feud with Brock Lesnar. Moreover, he won the Men’s Royal Rumble earlier this year and even headlined. However, the 69-year-old also had some views on Rhodes’ growth in professional wrestling.

Once Cody Rhodes left WWE and went to the indie circuit and renovated himself. Within a few months, he was the talk of the town in wrestling and had filled out arenas. But DiBiase wasn’t sure of his rise initially. He said, “I didn’t see it all along, but as I’ve watched him and watched him grow. I began to see it.”

Furthermore, the former Million Dollar Champion praised Cody for following in his father’s footsteps. Also, he remembered Dusty Rhodes while talking about The American Nightmare.
