Sting returned to TNA in January 2006 after a nine-month hiatus from the company. He teamed with Christian Cage to take on Monty Brown and Jeff Jarrett at Final Resolution 2006 on January 15, exactly 14 years ago!

This marked the first time Sting and Christian had teamed up. The coalition didn’t last forever as Christian alongside AJ Styles entered a brief feud with Abyss and Sting.

He also attacked Sting and cost him the NWA World Heavyweight Championship against Jeff Jarrett and cited Sting not being hungry enough for the Championship as the reason.

Christian became a two-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion during his tenure in TNA. His second World Championship came at Final Resolution 2007 in a controversial fashion when Cage hit a frog splash on Sting who laid lifeless after the attack from Abyss.

The two feuded in brief patches with each other throughout the course of Christian’s TNA run. After their final rivalry ended, he and Christian did not cross paths until Lockdown 2008 when ‘The Franchise’ joined Christian’s five-man team to face Team Tomko.

Sting and Christian’s wonderful chemistry in the ring and their rivalry was something that would’ve deprived fans had they waited for it to happen in WWE. Also, it’s nice that Sting and Christian’s first tag team match together was a victory, and their final tag team match together too was a victory. It was truly a fitting end to one of TNA wrestling’s most memorable friendships/rivalries.

‘The Icon’ in AEW

Last week, ‘The Icon’ saved Allin from yet another brutal assault from Team Taz following Allin’s TNT Championship match with Brian Cage.

It is open to the world that Sting will not wrestle in AEW, but he’s open to doing cinematic matches. We won’t see Sting hit the ring and take bumps as he used to, but it feels nice to see ‘The Icon’ being used in some capacity.
