This Cinco De Mayo, as we all know, WWE is going all the way to Puerto Rico for their next PLE, Backlash. Hosted by none other than Grammy-winning artist Bad Bunny, it is going to feature a lot of splendid matches. But this former WWE executive is still mad at WWE as he is not going to be able to enjoy the PLE because of Mexican boxer, Canelo Alvarez.

The decorated boxer is also going to have his big return match this Cinco De Mayo weekend. But how does that affect this legend’s Backlash watching experience?

On his podcast, Jim Cornette’s Drive-Thru, the former WWE executive, talked about everything wrestling. From the recent draft to the AEW All-In Wembley Stadium, ticket sales. But one part that genuinely frustrated Cornette was that the upcoming Backlash PLE was not going to air on cable TV. With live streaming winning out the deal, WWE decided not to air this month’s biggest wrestling show.

He said, “They got a big pay-per-view coming up, Backlash, I can’t even back into it on PPV because of Canelo Alvarez. I don’t know him and I’m not really anxious to see him this weekend. I wanted to watch Backlash on a real regular fu**ing television, with a regular remote. But instead, I gotta watch the Peacock to see this thing. They can’t even get it onto television anymore on PPV.

While Cornette is a wrestling business veteran, he should be aware of Canelo Alvarez. Alvarez is not only a triple title holder at this moment, but only one boxer has defeated him in his boxing career. Fans have been waiting to see Alvarez on their TVs, but apparently, that’s not what Cornette is into. Instead, he’s interested in Backlash, so what’s happening over there?

What’s happening at WWE Backlash?

The big attraction of this PLE is none other than Bad Bunny. The most streamed artist on Spotify for a few years takes on hosting duties this time in WWE. But that isn’t all. He is also set to appear in his first singles match with a hardcore stipulation against his former tag partner, Judgement Day’s Damien Priest, which wasn’t even in the plans a few weeks ago.

But he isn’t the only Judgement Day member in a match. The newly crowned SmackDown Women’s Champion will defend her championship against Zelina Vega. The other women’s match sees Bianca Belair defending her championship against Damage CTRL’s IYO SKY.

The only other championship match on the card is a triple threat involving the US Champion Austin Theory, former US Champion Bobby Lashley, and Bronson Reed. There is also a six-man tag team match between the Bloodline and the Unified Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn with Matt Riddle.

The other two matches announced for this PLE are the David vs Goliath match between Seth Rollins and Omos. But the other one is the main event of the show which sees fan-favorite Cody Rhodes go against the Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar.
