Since hitting the theaters in 2001, the Fast and Furious franchise has employed many rugged actors, with John Cena being one of them. Cena debuted as villain Jakob Toretto in F9. The WWE superstar played the estranged brother of Dominik and Mia Toretto and had quite an impact in making the life of the good guys difficult in the movie.

However, the 46-year-old received something familiar in the next installment as another popular actor took on the mantle of the ‘bad guy’, leaving the wrestler-turned-actor with an important duty. In a recent chat, John Cena opened up about his role and losing the seat to a 43-year-old.

Cena praised Jason Mamoa, who played Dante Reyes, the villain. “…Jason Mamoa, he steals the show in his role and I get to be the cool uncle to take lil B, little Brian Teretto on a road trip to try and get him to safety,” the Cenation Leader said. Brian is the son of his brother Dominik and his deceased sister-in-law Elena Neves.

Mamoa, who gained worldwide fame as DC’s Aquaman, is the latest recruit of the Fast franchise , which will release on May 19 in the United States. The $25 million actor is essaying the role of Hernan Reyes’ son. He is portrayed as hell-bent on taking revenge for his father’s loss in Fast Five.

Cena, who celebrated his 20 years in WWE last year, is a well-respected face (good guy) in the wrestling industry. The 16-time champion seldom plays a negative character, with F9 being one of the rare instances. That, however, is not the only movie where he played a bad guy.
