2024 seems to have a number of live in-ring injuries. Last week on Monday Night RAW, a tag team match was stopped as Giovani Vinci suffered an injury. This was due to a dropkick that resulted in Vinci landing awkwardly on his head. This episode of SmackDown saw something similar.

The WWE has new policies in place where if the referee sees anything where the wrestlers look like they took a hard bump, the match is called off. This is the second time this year that a match has been called off due to an awkward bump.

The match between Austin Theory and Carmelo Hayes saw an injury scare tonight. During the match, as both men put their best foot forward, one move almost resulted in serious injury. During the middle of the match, Austin Theory attempted a leaping Spanish Fly.

However, the move resulted in both men landing on their necks. This immediately made the referee call off the match as both men lay there. Even Grayson Waller, who was ringside, was shocked at this. You can clearly see Waller’s face as both men hit the mat. The ref was quick to check on both men, who also saw the way they landed.

Bad neck bumps have seen the end of so many WWE stars. With the new policies in place, matches are stopped to prevent stars from continuing the match with injuries and worsening the damage.
