In his illustrious career as a WWE superstar, Hulk Hogan has done it and seen it all. Apart from wrestling, The Hulkster has also been a part of some Hollywood movies, too. There, he made friends from various fields over the years.

However, once Hogan was on the brink of a dark period in his life. He claimed a famous sports personality saved him from that dark period.

Sports Illustrated once reported an article about Hulk Hogan’s insane real-life stories. One of the stories they reported was Hogan claiming Laila Ali, daughter of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali, saved his life in 2009.

They wrote, “Per Hogan’s own words that he spoke during an interview that aired on the Today show, it was Ali who talked Hogan out of committing suicide during what was a dark part of Hogan’s life.”

In 2009, The Immortal One was going through a rough patch in his life. He was going through a divorce from Linda Hogan. Moreover, his son, Nick Hogan, also met with a terrible accident around the same time. Also, Nick’s friend was suffering from brain damage as he caught a serious brain injury during the accident.

When Did Hulk Hogan Start Wrestling?

Hulk Hogan openly stated that Laila Ali was the one who had saved him. At the time, Hogan was in the middle of an extremely dark period of his life when Ali made the call that saved Hogan. 

What was Laila Ali’s reaction after listening to Hulk Hogan crediting her to save his life?

Hulk Hogan stated on a show about being saved by Laila Ali from his dark period of life. However, the daughter of the legendary boxer did now know of this good deed she had done.

Speaking with Huff Post Live, Laila Ali shed a light on this matter. She said, “I haven’t spoken to him and it’s so funny when that news came out that I saved his life. Someone got me and called me and said, ‘You saved Hulk Hogan’s life?’ (I’m like) what the h*ll are you talking about?

Hogan later explained the whole story to Laila Ali. It shocked the boxer to hear the story and was happy to know her conversation with Hogan saved him. It was surreal for her how her words positively affected The Immortal One.

She didn’t do anything great, as she had just called her friend to check on him and his life. However, Ali did not know about the total situation. We can say that Ali’s one call saved Hogan’s life, career.
