2020 has been a crazy year. Despite all the challenges, professional wrestling has continued to thrive with WWE and AEW producing shows every week. The pandemic brought upon significant logistical and venue changes, including the debut of the WWE ThunderDome.

WWE moved to the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida as the nation went into lockdown, but it was never a significant place for weekly shows to happen, at least for WWE’s flagship shows.

Four months after producing weekly programming from the Performance Center, WWE finally shifted base to the Amway Center in Orlando where they debuted the all-new fan experience – the WWE ThunderDome.

WWE ThunderDome moves from Orlando!

WWE announced its long-term residency at the Amway Center when they debuted in August. WrestleVotes reported last month that WWE would have leave the Amway Center by Dec 1, 2020. They also reported WWE were looking for venues in North Carolina, Texas, and Illinois.

WWE finally broke the ice regarding the WWE ThunderDome moving from Orlando. They officially reported last night that the WWE ThunderDome would move to the Tropicana Field in Tampa Bay, Florida, starting with Friday Night SmackDown on December 11th!

The Tropicana Field has a capacity to hold over 40,000 fans in attendance. One can only imagine the atmosphere if they allowed fans. The WWE ThunderDome is surely going to be electric in there.

The best part is ‘The Trop’ has a dome-shaped design, making it very fitting for the WWE ThunderDome to call it a home now!
