Bret Hart Details Why He Decided to Reconcile With Vince McMahon Despite the Montreal Screwjob

The Montreal Screwjob is a memory that will never fade away from the history books of pro wrestling. Bret Hart and Vince McMahon were never the same again with each other. In fact, the two did not speak for almost half a decade because of it. But like all friendships, the WWE Chairman and ‘Hitman’ reconciled.
Bret Hart details first conversation with Vince McMahon since The Montreal Screwjob
During a 2019 interview with Inside the Ropes in London, Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart detailed Goldberg ending his career. He also talked about the stroke he suffered in 2002 and how he reconciled with Vince McMahon after the controversial Montreal Screwjob.

‘The Hitman’ revealed Vince McMahon called him up when he was recovering in the hospital. Hart reveals no one had the number of his hospital room, but the the WWE Chairman got it somehow and rung him up. Bret shared he was absolutely mad to know Vince was on the other side of the phone.
The 5-time WWE Champion added he was still angry with Vince and was in two minds. But he eventually settled on speaking to him.
He said, “Once upon a time, I had a pretty good relationship with Vince. And in a lot of ways Vince was a very much like a father figure to me, we had a lot of a lot of trust. We were, I think, close friends for a long time. And I appreciate all the things that Vince did do.”
The Hart Dungeon Alumni said there was a part of him that wanted to reach out or accept Vince reaching out. However, there was another part of him that wanted to slam the phone down and hang up on Mr. McMahon. Guess what? He didn’t hang up.

Bret Hart has revealed in the past that the conversation with Vince in his hospital meant a lot to him. Eventually, the duo settled their differences, and Bret even took his rightful spot into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2006.
Not just that, but he evened the score with McMahon by making him submit to the sharpshooter at WrestleMania XXVI!
