In a tumultuous chapter of his early WWE career, The Miz faced adversity at the hands of Chris Benoit, resulting in his banishment from the locker room. The Miz’s struggles during this period, which include an incident resulting in his expulsion from the locker room, have become a part of WWE lore. However, after being banished from the locker room, a WWE legend did come to his rescue.

The salvation came unexpectedly from an unexpected source – the legendary The Undertaker. The Undertaker’s intervention, as recounted by Miz’s former partner Morrison in the “But I Digress” trailer, shed light on the situation that The Miz faced in his early WWE days.

The Miz has had his fair share of experiences with controversy and heat, especially during his early days in the WWE. It wasn’t the kind of attention he would have preferred. In his early WWE days, The Miz was banished from the locker room, changing in hallways for months after an incident where he allegedly spilled some chicken crumbs over Scott Armstrong‘s travel bag.

It did lead to his expulsion by Chris Benoit from the WWE locker room for six months. The Miz’s former tag team partner John Morrison reflected on these times in the “But I Digress” trailer. On another show, Morrison learned that six to eight months after the Benoit tragedy, Miz continued changing in the hall. The unwritten rule required the person who banished you to extend the invitation to return, putting The Miz in a dilemma.

He said in the old interview, “I wanna say the Benoit tragedy occurred and six or eight months after that, Miz had still been changing in the hall, he didn’t really know what to do, because the rule is whoever kicks you out of the locker room has to be the one to invite you back in. He didn’t know what to do.” Morrison suggested that it might have been The Undertaker who ultimately intervened.

According to his account, at one point, The Undertaker approached Miz and inquired, “Hey kid, why do you keep changing by the garbage? What are you doing out there?” Miz explained his side of the story, and The Undertaker extended an invitation, allowing The Miz to rejoin the locker room.

Despite challenges, Miz’s locker room relationship remains complex. Morrison added a touch of humor, saying, “I wouldn’t say The Miz is boring.” Did you know Miz, often considered boring, has faced other challenges in WWE?

Facing a great dilemma just ten minutes before the performance

The Miz used just any place available to get changed into his gear in a flash before entering the arena. Although he primarily used vacant spaces in hallways or broom closets, he didn’t have a choice when it came to using restrooms.

Describing his experience after he was banned from the locker room, he said, “When I had to use the restroom, I had to go out into where the audience would use the restroom and where fans would literally, I’d hear kids go, Dad, I think I just saw Miz go into that stall. Oh, OK, son, wait for him.” This was a source of great stress for him.

He further added, “This kid is waiting for me outside. And I have to perform, by the way, in 10 minutes. And so I’d get out and you’d hear the rumblings, like, hey, the Miz is in the bathroom. Oh, my God, this is so humiliating. But I went through it.” Having proven himself to senior wrestlers, The Miz’s locker room challenges have diminished.
