Fans tend to get impatient when their favorite wrestlers don’t appear on screen for too long. The absence of action often leads to rumors. A similar situation has occurred with one top AEW star. Ever since his last match at AEW ‘All In’ 2023, he hasn’t been seen on AEW television.

Out of concern, a number of speculations were spreading about how The Anti-Hero is probably at home due to a severe career-threatening injury. So, the AEW star had to resurface on social media to let fans know the real reason behind his absence.

Through his Instagram stories, Malakai Black spoke about why he wasn’t getting any singles matches. The last singles match that he had in AEW was a year ago in September 2022. That was coincidentally the same time when Black also uploaded a video on rehabbing from a back injury. When he didn’t return for a singles match again, fans speculated that it was solely because of his bad back. But in the video, he provided fans with his perspective too.

In the video that he uploaded on his Instagram story, the top AEW star revealed that he doesn’t know why Tony Khan hasn’t given him a singles match in a long time. He speculated, “I don’t know. I think it’s because they want us to be with the House of Black and do six-man tags.” His words somewhat make sense because if you notice his matches since last year, those have only been tag or six-man tag, both of which he has wrestled alongside his teammates.

He further explained his month-long absence from AEW by adding, “The reason why I am at home right now is due to a minor injury. I had a slight calf tear and hyperextension in my knee, which is almost nursed back. Again, I appreciate the concern, but the reality is that I’m fine. And you would see me sooner rather than later.

So, this video worked as a reassuring message to Malakai Black’s fans who have been concerned about his AEW return. However, the question regarding his singles matches still remains unanswered.
