Seasons pass by with various companies and promotions trying to find a better replacement for their one MVP. And oftentimes what happens is the young stars who try mimicking the MVP might end up ruining their career. But this is not the case with The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes. Since his return to WWE, he has shown a lot of promise while showing similarities with the Leader of the Cenation.

The primary comparison between the two is their outfit. John Cena from the very start was seen in bright color clothes. This resonated a lot with the fans, especially the younger audience, and had a positive impact on sales. This might be the sole reason why WWE never thought of turning him into a heel. Apart from that, he stood for all the right things. Something similar goes for Cody Rhodes. Apart from his bright-colored outfit, Rhodes has depicted the values of hard work, determination, and righteousness in the most American way.

This is a reason why fans have grown to love the new Cody Rhodes as he depicts the persona of a superhero. Apart from that, he has a splendid position on the cards. Just like John Cena, Rhodes also became a weekly staple at the Raw since his return. The way the star is now packaged goes to show that his card position is way better. Just like Cena, Rhodes has barely lost a match since his return, with mostly either being high stakes or due to someone’s interruptions. Also, Rhodes knows how to get a reaction from the crowd every time he enters the ring.

Even though there are few similarities between the two which almost feel like a coincidence, there is one aspect that confirms the speculation.

WrestleMania losses

Both Cena and Rhodes faced something similar at their respective WrestleMania’s. Both were pretty loud and clear about winning the match, only to lose it. John Cena’s arc included Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. He first fought with The Brahma Bull at WrestleMania 28 which Cena had lost. After this, he underwent a story in which he went on to prove his dominance, along with being sincere to his art. And after a year at WrestleMania 29, he finally defeated Johnson.

Fans were expecting that Cody Rhodes might dethrone The Tribal Chief at WrestleMania 39. However, he suffered a loss at the hands of Reigns. But since then, he has been on a mission to prove himself. He took out Brock Lesnar at the SummerSlam 2023 with ease. And as fans are expecting, he might go on to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 and dethrone him as the Tribal Chief if only LA Knight does not do that at Crown Jewel.
