Walking in her father, Dwayne Johnson’s footsteps, Ava Raine, joined WWE last year. On the October 26, 2022, edition of NXT, she was revealed as the fourth member of the villainous faction, The Schism. It has been months since her debut in the Stamford-based promotion and has fought only a couple of matches yet.

Plus, her journey so far has not been that impressive when it comes to showcasing her in-ring talent. Addressing this matter, experienced wrestling personality, Dutch Mantell shed some light on the fact why this might prove to be bad for the 21-year-old NXT star.

While speaking on StoryTime, Mantell pointed out the fact that Raine, being The Legendary Rock’s daughter, is in a tough spot. People expect her to match her father’s talents. But the fans have seen till now nothing of such sort from her, despite her being in the company for around quite a few months.

“Well, this is a project that could very well backfire in WWE’s face. By her being the biological daughter of Dwayne Johnson, she is expected to have certain athletic talents that she just doesn’t have. This is no knock on her, but she’s been training for a solid year. We can’t even blame it on the knee surgeries, but she is very, very green,” Mantell said.

Raine had knee surgery before joining WWE. But Mantel highlights that she can’t use it as an excuse to hide her athletic incapabilities. At some point, she will have to do better inside the squared circle if she wants to live up to her father’s name.

The 73-year-old retired professional also pointed out that if Johnson’s daughter continues to show a lack of talent and skills inside the ropes, then WWE can also become the victim of fans’ backlash. His words carry a lot of weight because a similar situation has already occurred in the recent past.

The WWE Universe lambasted Ava Raine

On the May 9 edition of NXT, Jagger Reid and Rip Fowler squared off against Mark Coffey and Wolfgang in a tag team match. Raine was also present at ringside to support her faction. She even tried to distract the NXT Tag Team Champions during the match to tip the scales in The Schisms’ favor.

However, Ivy Nile of the Diamond Mine rendered her efforts useless by attacking her at ringside. This segment gained a lot of criticism from the fans. The WWE Universe complained about how poorly Raine sold her segment. Fans felt she lacked decent acting skills. Plus, they also accused her of appearing weak when Nile attacked her.
