The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes is currently enjoying his best run in the company. Rhodes had left the company in 2016 over creative disputes and proved his worth outside the promotion before making his big return at WrestleMania 38. Rhodes belongs to the legendary Rhodes wrestling family and is the son of Dusty Rhodes.

Back in the 1980s, wrestling fans saw Dusty Rhodes being involved in one of the greatest feuds of all time against The Nature Boy Ric Flair. Recently, WWE scrapped plans of pitching such a rivalry.

Ric Flair’s daughter Charlotte Flair is a 14-time Women’s World Champion. While Rhodes is yet to win a World title in WWE like his father, Charlotte Flair is following in her father Ric Flair’s footsteps and is a 14-time World Champion. Recently, Mac Davies pitched the idea of following this nostalgic heritage and putting Charlotte Flair against Cody Rhodes.

However, this plan was immediately brushed aside by former WWE general manager Teddy Long.

Long said, “That wouldn’t draw a dime.” WWE is done with inter-gender rivalries, and pitching The Queen against The American Nightmare would mean an inter-gender fight between the two. This remains only a fantasy booking scenario, and fans are likely never to see this feud take place.

The Rhodes versus Flair feud came to an end with both Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes retiring from wrestling. Their feud took off in 1975, and reach its peak in the 1980s. One of the greatest matches, the two ever had was at Starrcade 1985.

What happened between Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair at Starrcade 1985?

The pay-per-view Starrcade 1985 saw Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes go into battle against each other. After a hard-fought battle, Dusty Rhodes would come out on top and defeat Flair to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.

However, the decision would soon be overturned, be reversed to a disqualification win, keeping Ric Flair as the champion. Both The American Dream and The Nature Boy were two of the greatest in-ring performers of all-time, and had some iconic clashes.
