The American sitcom, Young Rock, based on the life of Dwayne Johnson, has gathered much attention combined with both praise and criticism. Its final episode of the 3rd season aired a few months back, in February and since then, The Rock’s fans were keenly anticipating for the fourth one to arrive. However, it seems like there’s a piece of concerning news for Young Rock lovers.

The Young Rock series started in 2021 premiering on NBC and it’s been two years for the sitcom. But from here on, the future of the television sitcom appears to be in trouble, despite completing its three seasons successfully.

As per NBC’s recent actions regarding its three shows, Young Rock now sits in a bubble between cancellation and renewal. The network recently released its schedule, which ranges from fall and mid-season, with American Auto, Grand Crew, and Young Rock not listed.

This piece of news must be a sign of worry for Dwayne Johnson, who thanked the team of Young Rock a few months back in his unique fashion for beautifully portraying his life. The shows contain all the ups and downs of The Rock’s life which fans might not know of. However, despite doing justice to the legend’s life portrayal, the sitcom’s season four is not on NBC’s list.

NBC said “decisions are yet to be made” on the three shows, leaving the audiences curious. That being said, it’s definitely not a good sign for the show. However, some even speculate the shift in the sitcom’s airing from Thursday to Friday for its third season is one of the reasons behind its declining TV ratings.

Nothing’s confirmed yet, but this situation must be reminding fans of a similar episode from the past. There season 2 of Young Rock saw a decline in its viewership.

The downfall in Young Rock’s viewership started in season 2

It might be shocking for many, especially The Rock’s fans, that a series based on the popular personality’s life isn’t receiving a good response. And this isn’t a new thing, but the same happened after its second season premiered.

Fans immensely loved the first season of Young Rock and it also got a viewership of close to 3 million. This also pushed the makers to announce its second season as quickly as possible. So they did the same. But the second season couldn’t make up to the expectations as it gathered only 2.23 million viewership.

This consistent downfall in the sitcom’s viewership and rating has forced NBC to make up a decision. However, there’s no final decision on the matter yet. It remains to be seen what’s the future of the American sitcom.
