Thousands of spectators watched in awe as Hulk Hogan slammed Andre the Giant inside the Pontiac Silverdome. It was a moment that will forever be etched in the minds of those who witnessed it. Historically, that WrestleMania 3 moment has far greater significance. That showed a mega star passing his baton, anointing his successor. Unfortunately, Hogan has been accused of not emulating what ‘The Eighth Wonder of the World’ did for him- putting a relatively lesser talent over.

However, The Immortal One has yet again found an ally in a WWE legend, who says it’s a popular misconception about the 69-year-old. In reality, according to Hogan’s friend, the WWE icon “kind of” tried to help others get over.

Just a few days ago, Hogan was accused of possessing a bloated ego by WWE legend Jim Ross, for failing to put another superstar over. Notwithstanding that comment, Eric Bischoff, Hogan’s long-time ally and former WWE employee said the 69-year-old tried his best.

Of course, both Ross and Bischoff were talking about different matches, comprising different opponents. However, the subject was almost the same. Speaking on his 83 Weeks Podcast, Bischoff discussed the rivalry between The Hulkster and Billy Kidman during The Great American Bash 2000 event. There were talks amongst WCW fans regarding Hogan’s reluctance to put Kidman over.

Bischoff said his friend “wanted it to work, but was smart enough to recognize that things were falling apart.” He said Hogan wanted to uplift the morale of other wrestlers on the roster and took responsibility as the major draw. “Hulk agreed to do it because he wanted to kind of break the perception and improve the morale to the degree that he could,” the 68-year-old said.

Meanwhile, this is in complete contrast to what Ross felt about the two-time WWE Hall of Famer.

Hulk Hogan’s decision baffled Jim Ross

The 71-year-old Ross celebrates his 50th year in the pro-wrestling business next year. Thus, he has been privy to many significant moments, such as the rise and fall of several legends. Admittedly, one such moment left him gobsmacked in the 90s. The incident occurred at the King of the Ring tournament in 1993.

Hulk Hogan dropped the WWE (then WWF) Championship to Yokozuna, after winning it from him earlier that year at WrestleMania IX. This, in no way, should baffle anyone, but there’s more to that story. Well, The Hulkster has squashed Yoko in a 22-second bout to win the belt, after the latter had won it from Bret Hart that night.

According to Hart, this was part of a work as Hogan has promised him to drop the title later. However, he didn’t keep his word and instead of giving The Hitman the belt, dropped it back to Yokozuna. This led to an angry Hart paying a visit to Hogan backstage. The 69-year-old’s antics didn’t go down well with Ross as well.

During a recent episode of his Grilling JR podcast, he lashed out at Hogan, stating, “Maybe, it made Hulk feel better. If it did, cool. It was an interesting day to see how business was transacted behind the scenes.” Ross said it would have been right for him to drop the belt to the Canadian. So, what’s your take on this issue?
