Despite his father being a popular wrestler of his time, the Johnson family saw some challenging days. One part of this was when The Rock’s parents cleaned up houses while their son was aiming to make things good. Over the years, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has enlightened his fans about the challenging days that his family faced initially. Even though his father, Rocky Johnson, ran an independent circuit, he couldn’t make enough to sustain his family in a healthy manner.

And one day, the worst nightmare of the Johnson family became reality as an eviction notice was pinned to their door. This then forced The Rock’s parents to take up odd jobs to make ends meet.

Dwayne Johnson opened up about his family’s tough past

Speaking on The Pivot podcast, Johnson shared a quite personal story from his family’s struggling days. And while speaking about it, he also mentioned how it structured his main goal in life.

The legend also talked about how his father gave them a pretty good life but then “the end of the road was being evicted and not having any money.” 

Following this, he added, “He[Rocky Johnson] opened up a cleaning company and they were just like cleaning houses, cleaning anything they could and so for me it was, I cannot be broke, I don’t want that for them and I don’t want that for my family.”

It’s evident that seeing his parents’ hardships, The Rock was shaken up from the core. He made up his mind to never have his family in this situation again. This is how he ended up making his goal in life. It’s pretty well known to all that now Johnson is not only an actor, a former pro wrestler, and a successful businessman as well. But was achieving all this his plan?

The Rock’s goal was never to make this big in the Hollywood

In the podcast, the host asked The Rock if he ever imagined reaching where he is today while growing up. He said, “No, never my goal, my goal wasn’t to be here in Hollywood, making movies...My goal was just to not be broke”

Further into the conversation, The Rock also mentioned his cutting off from the CFL, and not being drafted proved to be a driving factor for him. However, now the star has become one of the richest actors in the world and achieved much more than he ever imagined.
