The WWE Universe has witnessed several great matches featuring the top-notch talents of the promotion. Two of those legendary wrestlers were undoubtedly Dwayne Johnson and Kurt Angle. And when one talks about these two, it reminds us of their on-screen rivalry. But how can we not delve into the interesting backstage moments they shared?
Kurt Angle now runs a well-known podcast channel and has been providing engrossing backstage stories for some time. In his active wrestling days, he has put on some classic matches that still stand out from the rest. However, he has consistently chalked out Johnson as his favorite person to work within WWE. That being said, it makes it obvious that the duo must have shared some fun time with each other backstage. Angle shared one such story recently on his podcast.

Speaking of The Kurt Angle Show, the Olympic gold medalist, recalled the time when was called to Memphis to do some dark matches for WWE. That was the time when he first introduced himself to the ‘hottest superstar’ of the promotion. Soon they found a lot in common, as both of them were college athletes. This sense of commonness helped them to grow their friendship a little more.

And as soon as they bonded well, the duo started to crack jokes on some renowned faces of the business, like Jerry “The King” Lawler and Jim Cornette.
Angle said, “We would make some comments about Jerry Lawler or Jim Cornette how crazy Jim Cornette was, which I absolutely love Jim Cornette. Don’t get me wrong about him. I love the guy. But he has a little bit crazy.”
The Rock Has a Special Message for a WWE Hall of Famer
Hanging out with friends means a little gossip and lots of bantering. Thus, the popular WWE names also used to do the same when had time. For them, WWE legend Cornette was the beloved person to crack jokes about.
However, along with recalling those memorable days with The Great One, Angle didn’t step back at speaking highly of Johnson.
The WWE Hall of Famer detailed why The Rock’s gimmick was entertaining
During the discussion, the Hall of Fame legend spoke at length about The Rock. He also mentioned how he always believed in him and that he would develop into this gigantic mega crossover star that he is today. Angle then also detailed the reason behind it.

He said, “I knew that just because of his character. It became larger than life. That’s, you know, talking in third person, not me. But the Rock. The Rock says this, rock says that, it was such a cool gimmick.”
Along with admitting that The Rock’s gimmick was the coolest, Angle also referred to him as the most entertaining guy in sports entertainment. It evidently shows his immense love for the wrestler turned Hollywood actor and now a successful businessman as well. However, this wasn’t the first time that Kurt Angle made an honest admission about The People’s Champion.
