Gone are the days when movies were solely enjoyed at the theatres. With the advent of the television, the monopoly was broken. Meanwhile, the metrics and success of a movie depended solely on numbers at the box office. In the present day and age, that process has gone through a change. With the introduction of OTT platforms, movies today have different yardsticks and measurements.

Take for example a Dwayne Johnson movie. Made on a budget of over $200 million, Black Adam was panned as a flop at the box office. However, the movie has managed to find itself a berth amongst the top 10 films on Netflix!

Although the movie has received 6.2/10 on IMBD and 38% on Rotten Tomatoes it has still managed to come in the top 10.

Black Adam swiftly climbed to #7, marking the best-performing DC movie in five years as per Cosmic Book news. It also surpassed titles like Wonder Woman 1984 and Gunn’s Suicide Squad. With Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom on the horizon, Johnson’s influence in the DC realm seems unmatched, despite missing out on a takeover bid to James Gunn.

The thematic similarities between Gunn’s DCU and Superman: Legacy, and Johnson’s Black Adam add an intriguing twist to the dynamic. Discussions within the community are now buzzing with talks of a sequel to Black Adam. But for those who have not seen the 1st part here is a spoiler!
