Yesterday, Black Adam, starring WWE legend Dwayne Johnson, was released on the official Warner Bros. YouTube channel. Unsurprisingly, the trailer received a whopping 7.4 million views on YouTube in under 20 hours, which is massive even for a blockbuster.

In retrospect, the trailer for Will Smith’s award-winning performance in King Richard got around 17 million views since its release. The bar set by Smith’s movie is nothing compared to the numbers that ‘The Rock’ is pulling. If the stats are any indication, the Black Adam trailer will cross the 17 million mark in just about 3 days.

According to IMDB, the synopsis of Black Adam goes like this; “Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods-and imprisoned just as quickly-Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.”

The movie will see Dwayne Johnson‘s character, Black Adam, fighting in a world unfamiliar to him. The trailer is packed some really impressive action sequences and quirky comedy scenes. Moreover, it’s mixed with the vague dialogues between Doctor Fate and Black Adam. The costumes department at Warner Bros. has really improved as all the heroes are reminiscent of their comic counterparts.

Why is The Rock So Famous?

With the trailer for the movie already stacking up 7.4 million before the 24-hour mark, it is safe to assume that Black Adam’s first trailer will be a tremendous success. And seeing the reaction to the trailer, the movie is a sure-fire blockbuster.

King Richard compared to Black Adam

Last year, Will Smith starred in the documentary feature film about King Richard, the father of Serena and Venus Williams. The trailer for the movie was first released on July 28, 2021. Since its release, the trailer has received 17 million views and another trailer with Beyonce’s ‘Be Alive’, the major theme of the movie received an additional 4.7 million views.

The movie revolved around the way Richard honed the skills of his girls, in and out of the tennis court. All were in order to mold them into the biggest stars in the world. Critics and fans alike lauded Smith’s portrayal of Richard in all his cunningness and planning.

As a result, Will Smith received an Oscar for Best Actor. While it may not be a commercial hit, the movie was a critical darling.
