SmackDown at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, turned out to be a spectacular event. The show marked WWE Hall of Famer Edge’s 25th anniversary in WWE. Before Edge went head-to-head with his good friend Sheamus for the first time in his career, WWE surprised him with a very special gift that evoked feelings of nostalgia.

Interestingly, Edge won his first-ever title at the same venue in 1999. It was a full-circle moment for the wrestling legend after he was presented with the gift.

Edge is, without a doubt, one of the most accomplished WWE stars in the business. The Rated R superstar is an eleven-time World Champion. But before he began his World Title reigns, Edge became a household name by winning several mid-card championships.

In 1999, Edge captured his first Intercontinental Championship in WWE by defeating Jeff Jarrett at a house show in Toronto. The wrestling legend subsequently clinched the same title on four additional occasions over the course of his career. Earlier on SmackDown, Edge was seen backstage receiving a custom WWE IC Championship from WWE. Naturally, his expression vividly displayed the joy he felt upon receiving this thoughtful gift.

In a video clip from the Wrestle Ops Twitter page, Edge said, “The first time I won this was actually here in Toronto at the SkyDome, and I ended up winning it four more times. So it is always very cool, and this is the first championship I won in the WWE. It will always have a special place in my heart. I never thought there would be an Edge version of it, so that is pretty damn cool.”

Aside from winning the IC Championship five times and the World Championship eleven times in his career, Edge is a one-time WCW United States Champion. In addition, he is also a 14-time World Tag Team Champion.

Anyway, Edge was moved to see how WWE commemorated his legendary career by gifting him a very special championship. Later, during the event, Edge and Sheamus stole the show with their very physical match.

Edge beats Sheamus in his hometown

Despite never facing Sheamus in the ring throughout his storied career, Edge shares a very special bond with the Celtic Warrior. In fact, Edge has made several appearances on Sheamus’s YouTube channel. And so, the match between the duo left nothing to be desired.

Both superstars fought valiantly, kicking out each other’s finishers. Ultimately, Edge and Sheamus measured each other to deliver their finishers again from corner to corner. As Sheamus went for The Brogue Kick, he got caught with The Spear. As a result, Edge picked up the win in his hometown.

After the match, Edge relayed that he is unsure of his future, alluding to the fact that he is done wrestling. Nonetheless, Edge seemingly wrestled his last match on SmackDown. We will have to wait and see what’s next for the WWE legend.
