18 Months After Returning From Rehab, Jon Moxley Becomes a Gold Medalist, Leaves Natalya, Nikki Bella, Nia Jax and Millions in Frenzy: “I’m So Proud”

A little setback sometimes results in a bigger comeback. AEW superstar Jon Moxley is the latest instance of this. Moxley, 37, had to rush to rehab for dealing with his severe alcohol addiction, putting a halt to his career back in 2021. However, he made a triumphant return to the squared circle after being just shy of three months away from TV and even captured the AEW World title on his return. Now, one year later, the superstar secured another accolade to add to his resume.

Despite garnering a lot of rewards from his pro wrestling endeavors, the Moxley channels his excess energy through active grappling. It eventually culminated in a gold medal in Jiu-Jitsu Tournament At NAGA Cincinnati Grappling Championship.

Wrestling and grappling are different in terms of fight techniques and finishes. However, many grappling aspects carry over to wrestling. Pro wrestlers, that’s why relate to that self-defense sport to a great extent.

Besides The Undertaker and a few more stars, Dave Batista, 54, has a stunning BJJ record. He started training BJJ back in 2010 but couldn’t continue since 2014. Still, the wrestler-turned-actor recently managed to get promoted to brown belt, the second highest ranking color.

The Undertaker also rose through the ranks to achieve a Rolles Gracie BJJ Black belt. BJJ black belt is a very prized possession. It is one of the most respected accolades to obtain in martial arts and it takes many years for someone to evaluate themselves from a white belt holder to the supreme black belt holder. The Undertaker did it under two years, registering himself to the list of a few eminent.

There are other accomplished pro wrestlers like Becky Lynch, Samoa Joe, and Shane McMahon, who achieved impressive feats in this field. Now, Moxley enters the list with a gold medal in his hand. Several noteworthy wrestling personalities lauded the wrestler for his significant achievement.

On June 15, Moxley competed in the Men No-Gi / Beginner / 225 – 249.9 (Superheavyweight) / Master (30+) division. The AEW superstar defeated Chris Sailer to get his hands on the gold medal. Moxley’s wife, Renee Paquette, took to social media to share a photo of Moxley and their adorable daughter holding the gold medal.

The achievement comes as a great credit for Moxley, as The North American Grappling Association (NAGA) ranks as the world’s largest mixed grappling tournament circuit.

WWE fans were left in awe of the news and the photo. While fans heaped congratulatory messages to Moxley, a bunch of superstars came out to appreciate the extreme cuteness of their little daughter. WWE star Natalya wrote, ” I can’t with this cuteness.” Nia Jax also commented, ”The smile on her face 😍😍😍😍”, while former WWE star Nikki Bella wrote, ”Soooo cute!!!”❤️❤️❤️. 

A fan seconded them, commenting, ”Wrestling is one thing, but seeing a daddy with his daughter is just off the charts. ❤️”,

Another fan wrote ”Aww, this is so cute. ❤️” A few fans genuinely appreciate what he achieved in the field of grappling. They appreciated Moxley in the comments section of the post. One fan wrote, ”Mox competed at a NAGA tourney?!! That’s awesome!”.

One more fan commented, ”Congrats!!!, Did not know that you trained bjj!”, as the wishes continued to pour in. A fan also expressed his pride over Moxley’s success writing, ”I’m so proud of Jon”.

Moxley is, now, set to compete in Blood & Guts on the July 19 episode of AEW Dynamite where he teams up with Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, Konosuke Takeshita, & PAC to face Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Hangman Page, and Kota Ibushi. We will need to see where he will go further with both his wrestling and grappling endeavors.
