“Every Night Was 40 Bucks”: Dwayne Johnson Sends His Daughter Simone, Who’s WWE Contract Smashes The Rock’s Rookie Contract, an Important Financial Message

Dwayne Johnson has reached a stage that every person aspires to reach. However, after years of hard work and dedication, Johnson was able to reach the pinnacle of the entertainment industry. After experiencing a failed football career, Johnson entered the world of pro wrestling and found success in it. However, despite belonging to the legendary Anoa’i family in wrestling, he did not make it big in the industry from the start. Johnson had to hustle his way from the bottom to the top. He began his career in an independent wrestling promotion for a salary of a meagre amount.

During his interview on the Pivot podcast, Johnson was asked whom between him and his daughter Simone Johnson had a higher first paycheck. Johnson would instantly answer that it was his daughter who had a bigger paycheck and narrated his story.

He said that he began his career on a humble note, surviving on around 40 dollars per night. He revealed that his first wrestling gig earned him a cheque of $40. Whereas, his daughter began her career in WWE, earning herself a sizeable paycheck.

What did Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson reveal about his first paycheck?

Speaking in the interview, The Rock would open on his first gig and revealed that he hailed from the USWA, a legendary wrestling promotion that gave rise to names such as Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler and more. He further claimed that despite being a small amount, there was a catch to it that, the payment was guaranteed.

He claimed, “My first paycheck well in wrestling, my first paycheck was 40 bucks. To wrestle. So, this was before WWE. So, as you are starting out, I wasn’t of course ready for WWE.” The 51-year-old is on his way to becoming a billionaire now, but he did not shy away from revealing his roots, and how hard he worked to reach this stage.

Compared to him, his daughter had a much more privileged start and received a head start in her career. He would narrate his struggling story and give her daughter a major financial message. He concluded with, “Every night was 40 bucks. Doesn’t matter where you are on the card, that was a guarantee. “

Given that how times have changed and his daughter having joined WWE’s developmental system NXT which airs on television, she is bound to make more than her father did in the business at the beginning.
