WrestleMania has seen some truly iconic Superstars grace its hallowed stage. From The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels to Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior, WrestleMania has seen a plethora of larger-than-life Superstars. Triple H might not be a name that springs to your mind when you talk about WrestleMania, but the Game has quite a tidy record at the Show of Shows.

Triple H holds the rather embarrassing record of suffering the most losses at WrestleMania. With 13 losses and ten wins, Triple H’s history with WrestleMania has not been a very successful one. However, the Game has put on some true classics at the PPV.

Triple H’s WrestleMania debut

His first WrestleMania match came at WrestleMania 12 against the Ultimate Warrior. The Warrior was making his return to the WWE after four long years.

Hunter Hearst Helmsley was the perfect opponent. Helmsley was squashed by Warrior in a minute and thirty five seconds. It will go down in history as one of the shortest ‘Mania matches ever.

Triple H faced Goldust, Owen Hart and Kane, at WrestleMania 13, 14 and 15 respectively. He would burst out of the midcard after WrestleMania 15 and was already in the main event of the 16th edition of the Show of Shows. At the PPV, he defeated The Rock, Big Show and Mankind in a Fatal Four Way elimination match to retain the WWF Championship.

Triple H suffered the first of his three losses to the Undertaker at WrestleMania 17. The legends fought in an entertaining brawl which Taker won via the Last Ride.

Hunter returned to the title picture at WrestleMania X8, when he beat Chris Jericho for the Undisputed WWF Championship.

Triple H defended the World Title at three consecutive Manias

Triple H would become Raw’s primary title holder from 2002 to 2005. He retained the World Heavyweight Championship against Booker T at WrestleMania 19, but would lose the same title to Chris Benoit at WrestleMania 20.

He would even lose the same title to former Evolution stablemate Batista at WrestleMania 21.

Triple H challenged John Cena for the WWE Title at WrestleMania 22, where he tapped out to the STFU. He would miss the following year’s ‘Mania due to injury but returned in time for WrestleMania 24.

The PPV saw a gigantic triple threat match between Randy Orton, John Cena and The Game. Hunter was pinned by Orton, but he returned the favour by beating him in the main event of WrestleMania 25.

Hunter faced Sheamus in a hard-hitting battle at WrestleMania 26. However, he was taken out by the Celtic Warrior in the aftermath.

Triple H would return in time for WrestleMania 27, where he came agonizingly close to ending the Undertaker’s Streak. Hunter battered the Deadman so badly, that even though the latter won, he could not walk out of the arena on his own two feet.

‘End of an Era’

The aftermath of WrestleMania 27 led to the ‘End of an Era’ Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania 28. If the first match was a classic, the Hell in a Cell match was one of the finest matches of the decade. Undertaker managed to kick out of a Sweet Chin Music/Pedigree combination to beat his rival with a devastating Tombstone.

Triple H would put his career on the line twice at WrestleMania: once against Brock Lesnar at 29, and Batista at 35. Both times, he emerged victorious.

He faced 2/3rds of the Shield at WrestleMania 32 and 33 in valiant losing efforts.

His match against Daniel Bryan will go down as one of the greatest WrestleMania opening matches of all time, and his battle with Sting would be a trip down memory lane for fans of the WCW/WWE Monday Night Wars.

This rounds off Triple H’s WrestleMania record. At 10-13, he holds the most losses at the show, but with 23 matches to his name, he has etched his name in WrestleMania history.
