No-compete clause ends for released WWE stars
Ali was released along with other stars back in September. As mentioned earlier, it was following the company’s merger with UFC. According to WWE, it was a part of budget cuts that had to be taken following the merger. While fans saw quite a few stars being released following the 2020 COVID pandemic, it was believed that things might be this time around. However, the stars were released and bound by the company’s ‘no-compete clause’, until now.

A non-compete agreement is something pro wrestling and many combat sports stars are made to sign when they join a promotion or company. According to the clause, the employees are not allowed to engage with another company after being released. The period is usually specified and is somewhere between 30 to 90 days. Ali was released back on September 21, 2023. Accordingly, his agreement ended on December 21, 2023, after his 90-day no-compete clause ended.

His announcement came just a day after another WWE star Matt Riddle revealed his plans. While the star was dabbling between mixed martial arts and pro wrestling, he announced that he would be joining Major League Wrestling and would be competing on January 6. As Ali never won any championships in WWE, do you think the tides will shift for him?
