When Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Academy Awards, he almost immediately sealed his social media fate for the next few days. Some have supported him, some sided with Chris Rock, and well-known individuals from other industries such as WWE have given their take on the situation.
For example, former WWE GM Eric Bischoff called Smith’s slap the “weakest” he had seen. In fact, he even compared the slap to what Bischoff did with John Cena, and joked about “passing the torch”.
I am grateful to Will Smith. His slap to @chrisrock was the weakest working slap ever seen on TV since I slapped @JohnCena. Happy to pass that torch.

Back in 2005, Eric Bischoff worked a match with John Cena, where he had to whack Cena on his face. However, Bischoff is the kind of man who does not like to be violent unless the situation truly requires it. Therefore, even when he wanted to deliver a vicious slap, he could only do so much. Nevertheless, John Cena had to sell it as it came.
The former WWE General Manager compared Smith’s attempt to slap Chris Rock to that weak moment. He is not the only one who spoke about Will Smith’s actions. Even Mick Foley gave his opinion about the same and claimed Smith wouldn’t have done this had Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, made the same joke.
The WWE Universe has been especially invested in the backstory of the slap
It so happened that Chris Rock made a joke where he took Jada Pinkett Smith’s name, and hinted that the joke was about her alopecia. While some in the audience laughed, Smith did not take too kindly to the joke and smacked Chris Rock across his face.
