Fans might really want to forget the last time John Cena made an appearance in the WWE. His last match was at Crown Jewel where he was annihilated by ‘The Enforcer’ Solo Sikoa. Fans were really hoping that Cena would win that match and end his embarrassing run of not winning a single singles match for 2000+ days. Unfortunately, Sikoa got the better of Cena that day. The Hollywood writers’ strike also came to an end which meant that Cena would have to resume his acting schedule.

In addition to having a successful career in Hollywood, Cena has also appeared in multiple television shows, including reality shows. So here are 5 television reality shows that John Cena has been part of.

Cena played Big Tim Kingman, the leader of the group of bounty hunters who would target these contestants with paintball guns before they crossed the island. The winner of the show would win $250,000. But if you end up getting shot 3 times, then the contestant would be eliminated and their head would be shaved bald.

2. Fast Cars and Superstars: The Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race (2007)

Then in 2007, Cena himself became a contestant as part of the celebrity reality show ‘Fast Cars and Superstars: The Gillette Young Guns Celebrity Race’. He was part of this show for 7 episodes in total.

Tennis legend Serena Williams, Skateboarding behemoth Tony Hawk, and Star Trek actor William Shatner were some of the celebrities who were part of the show. John Cena managed to even make it to the final round of the show before being eliminated. He was placed third in the competition overall.

3. Total Divas (2013)

This was a reality television series that aired between 2013 and 2019 on E!. This series purely focused on the women’s division of the WWE. It followed the female superstars’ life while working in the WWE with behind-the-scenes footage of their personal lives as well. At that time, Cena was in a relationship with Nikki Bella. That’s how John Cena got involved in this show. Nikki, her sister Brie Bella, Naomi, and Natalya were the only divas who appeared on all 9 seasons of the show.

Thus Cena also was present right from Season 1 to Season 6. He then made a guest appearance in season 7 in 2018. That’s around the same time Cena and Nikki Bella called off their wedding. They put out a joint statement in April 2018 in the US Weekly stating that they had called off their wedding. Thus also ending Cena’s stint on Total Divas.

4. Total Bellas (2016)

Post the success of Total Divas, the Bella sisters starred in their own reality TV show called Total Bellas. This show first aired on 5th October 2016 on E! and had 6 seasons in total. And just like Total Divas, this show also gave viewers a glimpse of the personal life of the Bella Sisters and their immediate family members.

When the show started in 2016, John Cena was still dating Nikki Bella. Thus he was an active part of the show just like in Total Divas. He even went on to propose to her at WrestleMania 33 in April 2017 after dating for almost 5 years.

However, the wedding was called off in April 2018, and hence Cena only appeared in the show till season 3 which ended in 2018.

One take at a time

I still vividly remember the time when WWE VHS's used to be played on cable movie channels every Sunday(early 90s in India). And that's where my love for the WWE began. My love and passion for pro wrestling only grew over the years in the form of a mini collection of cards, stickers, tees, action figures and even a WWE Championship belt signed by the 'Big Red Machine' Kane himself (talk about getting lucky).
