During an interview on the Sports Guys Talk Wrestling podcast, the WWE superstar said, “He [Brock Lesnar] said that a dream match for him would have been to wrestle Bret Hart.”

“We were talking last week, and he said that would have been a dream match because I told him how much Bret was a fan of his work and he said that would be a dream match,” Natalya added. (H/T: Fightful)

Brock Lesnar made his WWE television debut in 2002. But before Lesnar made his name in the professional wrestling world, Bret Hart had to announce his retirement from in-ring competition.

During a match against Goldberg at WCW Starrcade in 1999, Bret Hart suffered a career-ending injury. And after a few months, Hart had to leave WCW and even announced his retirement.

Since then, there have been several questions raised about Goldberg’s ability to be a safe worker.

Obviously, Goldberg did not intentionally cause Bret Hart that career-ending injury. But it played a major role in ruining Brock Lesnar’s hope of having his dream match against Bret Hart.

But the WCW legend wasn’t able to defend the title as Lesnar came out as the winner at WrestleMania 33.
