“Had A Handshake Understanding”: Goldberg Says Vince McMahon Made Him A Promise He Failed to Keep With a Warning to the Billionaire

Bill Goldberg last wrestled against Roman Reigns at Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia in 2022. He failed to win the Universal Championship in the most anticipated bout, which was his last match under the WWE contract. However, the 56-year-old recently revealed Vince McMahon failed to fulfill the promise he made after facing The Tribal Chief.

Recently, the former WCW wrestler opened up about a deal with McMahon over his last match.

The WWE Hall of Famer recently appeared on 93.7 The Ticket Show with Adam Carriker. The 56-year-old shed light that Vince McMahon was supposed to give him a retirement match in WWE after Elimination Chamber.

Goldberg said, “I’ll stop the rumor mill right now. The reason the rumors are out there is because Vince McMahon and I had a handshake understanding that after the Roman Reigns match that I would have a proper retirement match.”

The former two-time Universal Champion added, “And that hasn’t come to fruition through them and therefore nobody puts a stamp on my career. Nobody tells me when I’m done. Period. End of story.”

Furthermore, he shared not backing down when someone tells him he’s done. Moreover, he claimed he won’t hang up his boots after losing to Roman Reigns just recovering from COVID and he would retire on his terms.

The four-time world champion has made it clear to have one match. However, as he looks forward to his last match, his former boss Eric Bischoff recently pitched the idea of Goldberg facing CM Punk at the AEW All-In, Wembley Arena show.

Goldberg says he’ll find opportunities for his last match

While he is no longer with WWE, the 2018 WWE Hall of Famer stated he would take independent bookings. Moreover, Goldberg claims he’ll have a world tour to give his character a proper ending.

The 56-year-old said, “If I go on a world tour and promote it myself, that’s a possibility. Hey, I’m a businessman, and I’m fortunately, you know, in the position I firmly believe to where I can still make it happen. At the end of the day, like I said, I do believe that my character deserves a proper send-off.”

He hinted at promoting himself for any event possible for a last match in a four-city tour. He has kept the “rumor mill” open for his retirement match and said, “Anything and everything is an option”.
