In the 1980s and 90s, Hulk Hogan played a key role in the business and rose to become its standout performer. Hogan’s legendary career was propelled by a single, clear method that involved ‘not selling’ the opponent’s moves and ‘Hulking Out.’

If you’re unfamiliar with the phrase “No selling move,” it signifies wrestlers who make it appear that a move that should have badly hurt them has not affected them. The wrestler gets up instead of being impacted and does not sell the maneuver. And Hogan was regarded as a master of ‘no selling.’

In an interview with The Apter Chat podcast, the WWE Hall of Famer discussed a variety of professional wrestling-related subjects, including a revelation about the person who taught him to “Hulk Up” and “no-sell” his opponents’ maneuvers.

He stated, “Then what happened is I went to Minnesota for three years. And I really honed my craft, Verne Gagne actually taught me how to start shaking and Hulk Up. And Verne actually taught me that, how to come up. He could coach me, now you gotta start shaking and if somebody hits you with a lead pipe in the head you act like it doesn’t hurt you.[H/T: Wrestling Attitude]”

The man who is credited with teaching Hogan the technique is none other than Verne Gagne. Though Hogan’s new approach of using no-selling maneuvers during his return would draw large spectators and win him the match, his rivals didn’t appear to like it as much. Additionally, Taker was the target of one of the most illustrious no-sells.
