Former WWE CEO Vince McMahon shocked the entire WWE world when he announced his retirement amid a sexual misconduct allegation against him. Shortly afterward, Vince took back control of his empire and made a return as the Executive Chairman of the board earlier this year.

Amid all the doubts, speculations, and opinions since his return, the obvious question that resurfaces, again and again, is how long Vince will stick to the company. Current CEO Nick Khan recently cleared all the air, hinting at another WWE exit for Vince.

McMahon’s presence can be a risk factor for the company’s shareholders, as he had multiple legal allegations against him. This is the real reason why The Board denied his previous request to come back in December. However, Vince’s power grab made it possible for him to return finally, primarily to sell the business. That being said, Fans wonder if a powerful entity like Vince will ever be okay with selling the company without himself being a part of the deal.

During WWE’s investor call today, Nick Khan came with a lot of clarification while asked on some tough questions. Addressing whether Vince will step down from WWE in case of a sale, he said, ”Yes. Without question. He’s declared it to the board. He’s declared it to us in management. It’s all about shareholder value. Obviously, he is a shareholder. So it’s not about what role he’ll have. It’s about maximizing that value opportunity.”

Moving on, Khan further said in the context of quality, WWE is looking for a potential buyer, ”A partner that has more than simply deep pockets. So a partner that understands the media business, that’s in the media business, that understands how to further monetize the media business, that certainly understands our product, our intellectual property, what we’re doing with it, what can be done with it, media rights both domestically and internationally.”
