“He Ran It by Me”: 45-Year-Old WWE Superstar Reveals Sami Zayn Had Concerns of Receiving Heat From the Company for Supporting a Noble Cause

We are seeing Sami Zayn on WWE Live shows for nearly a decade today. He has been a crucial part of the company for a long time and in the headlines for the past few months. The former ‘Honorary Uce’ is one of the most loved people in his character or in his personal life. However, Zayn was once concerned that he would get heat from WWE for running a campaign outside the company.

Sami Zayn runs a campaign ‘Sami for Syria’ outside WWE. Through this campaign, he has set up a mobile medical clinic that travels from camp to camp. The initiative provides immediate medical care for free to displaced civilians.

Titus O’Neil gives an insight into Sami Zayn having concerns

On the February 28 episode of the Busted Open Radio, Titus O’Neil shared  Zayn was worried about receiving heat from WWE for running ‘Sami for Syria’. The former tag-team champion said, “Sami Zayn is one of the hottest things in pro wrestling and has been for several months. I remember Sami calling me and going, ‘Hey man, I want to run something by you.’”

He added, “This is when he wanted to do his project in Syria. ‘Do you think I would get any heat?’ He ran it by me, explained everything, and asked, ‘Do you think I would get any heat for doing so?”

WWE is a major brand and Zayn’s worry is kind of understandable. But it seems things worked out for the “Underdog from the Underground.”

His campaign was launched successfully with no issues from the company. Zayn has been vocal about his support for the Syrian community. Also, Zayn never travels to Saudi Arabia due to his Syrian Muslim ethnicity.

Titus O’Neil’s advice to Zayn

Titus O’Neil, The Warrior Award recipient and WWE’s global ambassador, gave Zayn a piece of advice in that matter. Clearly, his advice was useful for the three-time intercontinental champion.

O Neil said, “I said, ‘if anybody gives you heat for trying to do something that makes a significant and positive change for something you believe in, then you don’t need to be working at this company.’”

Titus shared he won’t work at a place that doesn’t see him helping people positively. Today many WWE superstars support Zayn in his campaign and safe to say he has been successful in helping people in any way possible.

As of now, Zayn will have a rematch for the Undisputed Universal Championship against Roman Reigns. This will happen at a WWE live event on March 4th in Toronto’s Coca-Cola Coliseum.
