DC paid Dwayne Johnson a whopping $22.5 million for his superhero debut in Black Adam. However, Robert Downey Jr. received very little for 2008’s Iron Man.

In a recent tweet shared by Marvel Facts, an MCU fan page, they stated RDJ accepted an amount of $500,000 for Iron Man. However, his co-star Terrence Howard, who played Rodney in the first installment of Iron Man, got $3.5 million.

If we compare both scenarios, we will see why DC is paying more to The Rock for his DC debut. The former WWE star is currently the most popular actor across the globe. Clearly, looking at his box-office collection and popularity, DC has paid a huge amount to him.

However, the same wasn’t in the case of RDJ. Even though Iron Man is the movie that opened the gates of success for MCU, the franchise hesitated to cast him. Surprisingly, RDJ cemented himself as an established and highest-paid actor after playing Tony Stark.

RDJ was on the path of making a name for himself again in Hollywood. He had overcome all of his past demons and was doing a fresh start. MCU hesitated at first but cast him in their Iron Man, which changed the fortune of the franchise.

After signing Dwayne Johnson, DCEU is also hoping this could change their fortune. Moreover, Johnson’s Seven Bucks Production of also a part of producing team. So, their creative control can change a few elements of DCEU’s way of portraying their movies.
