The main event of WrestleMania 28 and 29 saw two massive matches between Dwayne Johnson and John Cena. Dwayne Johnson and Cena went to the full extent to make their feud a ‘Once in a Lifetime’ spectacle. Their work together in WWE during those two years and their successful acting careers have made fans wonder when they will work together in a film.

Indeed, there is a high possibility ‘The Rock’ and Cena might come together in the Fast & Furious franchise. But fans were disappointed when it came out that they could’ve also been part of the DCEU storyline together. While Johnson played Black Adam, ‘The Cenation Leader’ once wanted to play Shazam. Four years later, fans are calling it a missed opportunity for DCEU.

‘The Cenation Leader’ is playing Peacemaker in DCEU, which has become a beloved character of the fans. Apart from his WWE character, playing Peacemaker has given John Cena massive success in the superhero genre. However, DC Studios could have made him the man behind Shazam instead if they had wanted to.

Last year in January, while promoting the HBO series Peacemaker, the 16-time world champion gave several interviews. One of these was with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, where he opened up about wanting to play Shazam in the 2019 titular movie.

The 46-year-old WWE legend said, “I can’t tell you how many superhero roles I’ve been rejected for. Shazam is certainly one. I think like a child, so Shazam was super interesting to me… And when I read the script, a lot of times, like… this is the thing, I don’t chase ‘I want to do this,’ I always have to read it.”

It would’ve been one of the best castings according to fans, as ‘The Rock’ would play Black Adam three years later in 2022. However, Zachary Levi played Shazam in the first movie which was released in 2019 and it earned $367.7 million worldwide. A sequel to the movie was released earlier this year: Shazam! Fury of the Gods, in which Levi reprises the role.

Nevertheless, after two successful WWE programs with each other, fans wanted to see Cena and Johnson together in a movie. Hence, four years after Shazam!‘s release, fans recently shared their reactions to a missed opportunity.

Fans react to Dwayne Johnson and John Cena’s missed opportunity to work in a DC movie!

John Cena and ‘The Rock’ are two massive names in the world of WWE, who have become successful actors alongside Dave Bautista. The Brahma Bull’s previous WWE rivalry would have made him and Cena one of the best hero-villain duos in DC.

Fans cannot stop drooling over the idea of Cena as Shazam fighting Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. Below are the reactions from the fans on Twitter.

Shazam vs Black Adam would’ve turned into a WWE storyline.

From what fans are saying, DC Studios really missed out on an opportunity to create a classic moment in the DCEU.

Some believed ‘The Cenation Leader’ would’ve done a better job if cast as Shazam instead of Zachary Levi.
