Cody Rhodes created history when he entered the ring in June 2022, to compete against Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins. He entered the ring, took off his jacket, and the world was shocked to see the discolored skin on the right side of his chest. It was because of the damaged pectoral muscle. But despite that, Cody didn’t think twice before competing in the match that could end his wrestling career.

But when he was asked about his thoughts on that iconic match, Cody gave a shocking answer. Recently, ‘The American Nightmare’ appeared on WWE’s The Bump as a guest and talked about several things.

During the show, he was also asked about his phenomenal match. And, Cody gave an honest answer without exaggerating much.

While talking about his ‘Hell in a Cell’ match, Cody said, “You gonna hate my answer…….And this is not the answer you are supposed to give, but I was injured, I would tell my students in the nightmare factory …never wrestle injured and then I went out and I was a hypocrite. …..But it’s simple why….. We get the opportunity to be in front of the world in such a large capacity, a larger-than-life capacity and not to mention not to be tacky, we are paid very very well that’s my job and I just never looked at it as anything other than I need to go and do my job.”

Cody Rhodes felt grateful for the love fans showered on him after the match

Cody didn’t forget to feel grateful for the WWE universe’s reaction to the match. He also said that it changed his image as an athlete in front of the fans. He just wanted to give the audience a great match and eventually, he ended up giving them one.

“To me, it was another night at the match… it was what you are supposed to do when you are in our position……I just started connecting with an audience that just welcomed me back….I was embarrassed that I got hurt in the first place ….the last thing I would want them to think is that I wouldn’t give them something on the way out. And we gave them something special on the way out.”
