WWE flew to Canada last week for its weekly live events, RAW and SmackDown. As expected, the shows garnered a great reaction from Canadian fans. However, a certain wrestler took to social media to express resentment towards the country. The star in question is none other than Rhea Ripley. 

Surprisingly, Canadian fans agreed with Ripley’s sentiments, with some even jokingly expressing a willingness to renounce their citizenship. So why does Rhea Ripley hate Canada?

In typical heel fashion, The Eradicator took to Instagram to post a picture where she appears to have dedicated her time to an intense arm workout session. But what was surprising about the post was the caption. She wrote, “I hate you Canada,” while flexing her bicep. 

Ripley made her appearance on RAW, flanked by the rest of Judgment Day members. Although the fans drowned out Dominik Mysterio with a cacophony of deafening jeers, Rhea Ripley got a fairly better response. However, Ripley did not think much of Canada and expressed her hatred for the nation on Instagram, triggering a wave of reactions. As hate begets hate, some fans criticized the Australian wrestler for her post.

Moreover, this is not the first time the Australian wrestler had taunted Canada as she did the same last week after her encounter against Natalya. Ripley emerged triumphant in her match against the ‘Queen of Harts’ on the 11th August edition of  SmackDown. Natalya being from Canada clearly had the crowd on her side during the dark match. This clearly rubbed Ripley the wrong way as she chastised the ‘Great White North’.

Other Canadian citizens hilariously rallied against Canada in lieu of Ripley’s latest attack against the nation. Let’s face it, Rhea Ripley is a major attraction in WWE. Despite being a heel, Ripley has a legion of supporters. And by the looks of it, some of her admirers don’t mind going against their nation for a day because of Ripley.

Off-topic, Ripley recently announced that she is officially engaged to AEW star, Buddy Matthews. Nonetheless, it’s conspicuous that Rhea Ripley’s post was, by design, intended to rattle Canadian fans. However, it ended up sparking the total opposite reaction.

On the latest edition of RAW, Ripley faced off against Indi Hartwell in a one-on-one match. As expected, it was a near-squash match. But the presence of Candice LeRae mildly impeded Ripley’s progress. Ultimately, after the match concluded, LeRae and Hartwell worked in tandem and attacked Rhea Ripley. 

Naturally, Ripley seemed enraged as the duo made their way out of the ring. It’s very likely that Canada became the target for Ripley’s negative encounter on RAW. Regardless, here are a couple of fan responses.

• “it’s a good day to not be canadian”

Mami knows how to turn citizens of a nation into turncoats.

We don’t know if the hate is genuine, but it certainly appears that Rhea Ripley might have convinced some Canadians to defect from their nation.

Irrespective of whether she genuinely hates Canada or not, it’s certain that Canadian fans love Rhea Ripley. At this juncture in her career, the Australian star is unequaled on the women’s roster. We will have to wait and see if another star emerges to pose a threat to the reigning Women’s World Heavyweight Champion.
