However, fans also remember the two superstars for their infamous lovebirds storyline from the ruthless aggression era. While the former couple had taken the wrestling mat for their celebration, their relationship started as an outcome of another relationship. A WWE legend and a former champion recently opened up on this and spoke his mind.

WWE legend expressed concerns about Edge and Lita dating each other in 2004?

Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle recently opened up on his podcast about the infamous relationship shared between Edge and Lita. Although the couple were extremely fond of each other, their relationship started with Lita’s fallout with Matt Hardy.

Matt Hardy and Lita were together since 1999. However, around 2004, when Matt Hardy was out injured, Lita and Edge started traveling together, and thus began the roots of their relationship. Speaking on his podcast, Kurt Angle opined on this.

He claimed that being their close friend; it was uncomfortable for him, and he was strictly against it. Angle said, “I was good friends with all of them. I didn’t like it. I felt like, it was really uncomfortable to be around this situation. You know, knowing that Matt was Lita’s, and Lita was Matt’s.”

He further stated, “and then you know Edge came along and kind of took her away. It just didn’t sit well with me, and I wasn’t gonna be there and chastise anybody. Kept quiet.” After Edge and Lita came together, Hardy went on his own way, and would later depart from WWE.

Angle also spoke about the primary reason behind Hardy leaving the promotion in the past.

Speaking on the same issue, Angle further discussed that this love triangle would lead to Matt Hardy’s release from WWE. The incident had spread badly, and was one of the most infamous relationships of that era. However, this affected Matt Hardy more than the two involved love birds.

Angle claimed that there was a significant reason behind letting Matt Hardy go. He said, ” I don’t think they had a choice. They had to make a decision. Matt was there, and to have Edge and Lita together, and to have Matt see that everyday.”

After Edge and Lita’s relationship became public knowledge in 2005, Hardy would be let go by the company. He would later return to have a heated feud with Edge. Despite their personal disputes, all the involved parties acted showcased professionalism and sorted out their differences in the ring.
