It is no secret that Stone Cold Steve Austin is one of the most hot-headed wrestlers WWE has ever seen. The stories surrounding him are a testimony to this fact. His ‘macho-man’ image in WWE has been stuck in the heads of an entire generation of kids and young adults. On the other hand, The Rock had a kind of image on the screen as his persona tended more towards charismatic delivery and his in-ring presence.

Austin’s rivalry with The Rock, which originated over their intercontinental title feud, is still considered one of the most electrifying rivalries in WWE history. And one can imagine a rivalry with Austin simply means hell! Once, just like The Rock himself, a friend of his rubbed him the wrong way as well.

Reminiscing about it, Gewirtz said, “I think everything, my part included, if I didn’t know any better, when Steve gave an interview at the time to WWF Magazine and said, ‘I don’t need some kid straight out of sitcom school handing me a piece of paper.’ I kind of deduced that he might have been talking about myself at that time.”

Austin refused to attend the match and walked out as he did not wish to be a medium of making somebody else the ‘Next Big Thing’.

Gewirtz himself is a fan of Stone Cold Steve Austin

The former WWE Head Writer agreed that Austin did not in fact need somebody telling him what to do. Gewirtz himself did not exactly want the same as he is a big fan of ‘The Texas Rattlesnake’ himself. “In my apartment in L.A. I had a…Like any cool 26-year-old living in L.A. would have, I had an inflatable Stone Cold Steve Austin bobbing,” he said.

While on this topic, he also hinted at the possible return of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson! It rests on his Hollywood shoot schedule but is a very likely possibility.
