For 10 years, Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Ross, Chandler, and Joey captivated the television audience in the USA. Later, they added audiences from around the globe to elevate their stature as pop culture icons. If you’re still wondering who these six people are, and what connection they have with the WWE, keep reading.

The six are characters from the popular American sitcom Friends. Recently, WWE icon John Cena broke one of his customs for the series.

The said series dropped its first episode in 1994 and wrapped its run in 2004. Even though nearly two decades have passed, the popularity hasn’t waned. On the contrary, Friends enjoys massive fanfare among sitcom lovers.

Cena, who’s known for his no-caption posts on Instagram, shared an image of the sitcom’s poster. The throwback still featured all six actors- Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, and Matt LeBlanc- from the series. While it’s customary for Cena to post random pictures, it’s not usual for him to follow it up on the same subject.

He posted another photo– his usual ‘Stone Cold POV’ asking people to enjoy time with their friends. If the first image was a hint, the second blurted it out loud. One could wonder if the wrestler-turned-actor has been bitten by the Friends-bug? The answer, however, rests with the 16-time world champion.

Meanwhile, one of Cena’s peers, who recently got his flowers from The Peacemaker actor, is a self-admitted Friends fan.

John Cena’s OVW mate once made an interesting admission about himself involving Friends

Months before Cena made his debut on the main roster in 2002, three of his Ohio Valley Wrestling batch mates had graduated. They are Brock Lesnar, Randy Orton, and Batista, in that order.

Last year, Lesnar opened up about his love for the sitcom and says he watches it often, during his appearance on The Michael Kay Show. The Beast Incarnate also revealed his favorite character from the show.

“I’m not a huge TV guy. I never have been. I tuned in to the Super Bowl, didn’t catch the halftime show. I did go back and watch it on YouTube. I don’t watch the UFC. Even when I was competing, I would go back and watch some of my film but I never sat down…I’ve rented maybe half a dozen pay-per-views. (I have watched) Seinfeld, catch a little Friends every once in a while. Monica (is my favorite),” Lesnar said. [h/t: Fightful]

So, not just wrestling, the WWE legends are now bound by a common thread- Friends.
