John Cena Rallies His 20 Million Audience to Fire a Shot at Cody Rhodes’ Past Failure

It was indeed a monumental moment for Cody Rhodes’ fans as WWE’s generational superstar, John Cena, brought him out to the Boston crowd during an episode of RAW in March this year. Rhodes came out and the two wrestlers embraced each other. Cena also passed the baton to The American Nightmare as he raised the 38-year-old’s arm in the air. But months after that acknowledgment, Cena has likely taken a shot at his WWE colleague by digging into his past, especially an unfavorable period, on Instagram.
His post about Rhodes on the site also attracted reactions from fans, who commented on the same.

It is not a secret that among the many gimmicks portrayed by Cody Rhodes, his least favorite is Stardust. With face paints and glitters, the gimmick synced with his half-brother WWE legend Goldust. However, it failed to get the same love that the elder Rhodes got from the crowd. Cody Rhodes himself was tired of it and it eventually played a part in his exit from WWE in 2016.

The brick toy set currently sells for $21.99 on eBay and comprises stacks to build both superstars. Cena, on the other hand, didn’t provide a caption as usual. The 46-year-old’s unique Instagram etiquette makes it difficult for others to read his thoughts. On the other hand, it makes it open for interpretation by his nearly 20 million followers, which is Cena’s intention.
In accordance with that plan, fans had their own interpretations of the post, which they shared online.
Fans smell a feud, take a shot at Cody Rhodes on John Cena’s post
There’s no dearth of creativity from WWE fans. The WWE Universe can sense if something is able to happen and has been right occasionally. This time, they sensed that Cena’s post reeks of a future feud between the two stars.
“John Rhodes Confirmed,” said one fan, who appeared to be sure about the future. “Cena challenging Cody to a match after his match w/ Brock at SummerSlam 👀👀,” another speculated.
A third comment read: “John cena throwing shade, reminding the world of #Stardust 🙀 @americannightmarecody next contender after slaying the beast 😜”
Cena hasn’t been announced for the August 5 PLE at Ford Field yet. Rhodes, however, will take on Brock Lesnar in their proposed ‘rubber match’, ending the ongoing rivalry that’s poised at 1-1.

Some fans also took a jab at Rhodes, saying if not for Cena, people would have not remembered the existence of the toys. “No one, and I repeat, no one would’ve remembered this existed until this post,” said this fan.
“Something something lego cody rhodes 😳,” another added.
The Prince of Pro Wrestling has been an admirer of the leader of Cenation. He also revealed Cena’s advice to him during the aforementioned RAW episode and how it helps him. But will this act from Cena cost him his respect from Rhodes?
