On the latest episode of his podcast The Kurt Angle Show, the Hall of Famer talked about Punk’s return and what it could mean for WWE and AEW. During the conversation, he was asked whether the 37-year-old star would have been a good fit during the Attitude Era. Angle chuckled while adding, “He might have gotten beat up by Bob Holly.” He further explained why that might happened. Angle believes that Punk has a reputation for not agreeing to everything imposed on him. Due to this, he might land in trouble.

However, the Olympic gold medalist believes that the Chicago-based star is incredible at what he does. Due to his promo-cutting skills and mic skills, Punk could have been a perfect fit for the Attitude Era.

The former AEW star’s return has been the talk of the town lately. While he has called WWE his home, fans have been thinking about how it might affect AEW in the process. Angle had an explanation for that as well.

Kurt Angle speaks about CM Punk’s time at AEW

Fans do remember CM Punk infamously walking out of WWE back in 2014. This was a big step taken by CM Punk as the star was absent from pro wrestling up until 2021. In the year following the COVID-19 pandemic, the star signed with AEW. Reports suggested that after his signing, AEW had seen a massive boost in overall ratings. However, after Punk left following the AEW All-In backstage events, fans were thinking about how it might affect AEW. Angle stated that fans should not worry as the former WWE champion alone does not define the whole company.

He further added that AEW has been growing regardless of Punk’s involvement. Apart from that, the veteran stated that the WWE star should keep himself out of trouble. Even though he is happy for Punk’s return to WWE, if he stays out of trouble, he will have a good time. While it’s been just one month since his return, there have been no reports of his involvement in any backstage drama at WWE. However, fans do hope CM Punk’s second run at WWE will be remembered by everyone as a good one. Do you agree with Kurt Angle’s comments?

One take at a time

For me pro wrestling has two things that I like the most, storytelling and fighting. Let?s just say movies are failing to keep me entertained in those departments. I grew up watching WWF and not WWE and any hardcore fan will agree that the two are not the same, but I love both iterations.
