Brock Lesnar returned a couple of weeks ago on SmackDown to confront Roman Reigns. ‘The Beast’ may have spent most of the time of his second WWE run on RAW, but he has always belonged to SmackDown. He had some memorable feuds on the blue brand in his first run with big names like The Big Show, The Undertaker, Kurt Angle, and many more.
Brock Lesnar’s feud with The Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle is something a wrestling fan cannot forget. Furthermore, their match at WrestleMania 19 is widely remembered for Lesnar botching a Shooting Star Press.

Recently, Angle confirmed on the “Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling” podcast that Lesnar was supposed to pin him after the Shooting Star Press. However, they were forced to change the finish at a short notice.
Angle said, “Yes, the Shooting Star Press was supposed to be the finish. It was my idea because Brock was using it in OVW. The thing is, I don’t know if I was too far out but when Brock went to do it he kind of second-guessed himself and did like a stutter, and then he went and he didn’t make the full rotation. He landed on his head. It was just crazy. I mean everybody went in a shock.”
Further, in the same interview, Kurt Angle also claimed that he was surprised when Lesnar botched the move. The Olympic Hero was scheduled to have neck surgery after dropping the title to Brock Lesnar at Mania. Angle was worried he would have to carry the World Title for a month until the next Premium Event and miss his surgery.

However, a confused Lesnar followed Kurt Angle’s lead and kept the match rolling for another five minutes. The match ended with ‘The Beast Incarnate’ winning at the Grandest Stage that year.

Brock Lesnar, just like always, was an enormous powerhouse who was also quick in the ring in his initial days in WWE. On top of that, ‘The Beast Incarnate’ would perform a shooting star press during his time in OVW. However, he stopped doing the move after debuting on the main roster, as the move didn’t match his gimmick.
Lesnar performed the move at WrestleMania 19 against Kurt Angle. However, as per Angle, Lesnar wasn’t sure about it. He said, “He didn’t make the rotation because he did stutter. It didn’t go right away. He wasn’t sure about the move, he just kind of second-guessed himself.”
